ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
I grew up in Sutton Coldfield but moved away at 16 when I was awarded a full scholarship to train as a professional dancer at The Hammond School. I then went on to train at Trinity Laban, graduating in 2012 with a BA Hons Degree in Dance Theatre. For 6 years after that I enjoyed a diverse career as a professional dancer.
Teaching dance and movement has always been my passion and in 2017 I graduated with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Dance after studying towards the Professional Dancers’ Teaching Diploma and was successfully awarded my STOTT Pilates Mat qualification from One KX. I went onto work as an Associate Lecturer in Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Pilates for the University of Surrey and held the position of Head of Contemporary Dance and Choreography at The School of Ballet Theatre UK where I was also their in-house Pilates teacher. I also worked as a ballet and Pilates tutor at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts on their degree and diploma in dance programmes in London and as a regular contemporary and creative tutor for the Royal Academy of Dance and The DanceXchange Birmingham. In 2019 I launched The Dance Collective, a ballet school, in Sutton Coldfield. I have been teaching ballet, contemporary and Pilates as part of the timetable since 2019.
I took a recent break from teaching Pilates due to having 2 children in 2 years and 2 C-sections! My youngest is now 9 months old and whilst my recovery this time has been much slower than anticipated, I am now delighted to re-start by Pilates teaching now here in Armitage, my home village! I’m excited to meet people from my local community and to share my love of Pilates with you all!
